Each section holds blocks: tables, charts, numbers, notes, and an AI summary. Tables and charts share the same controls.
Show a table as a chart
Use the dropdown in the block header to switch between Table and a chart: Column, Bar, Line, Area, Stacked bar, Stacked bar (horizontal), Pie, Dot plot, or Flow (Sankey) where the template offers it. To keep both, use Duplicate as table or Duplicate as chart.
Counts and percentages
Use Show values as to choose Count, Percent, or Both. Where more than one base applies, pick what the percent is of. Medians, averages, and rates always show in their natural form.
Change over time
Where the table has comparable years, open Customize and set Time view to Change or Trend instead of Default, then pick the years in Time period.
See how a value is calculated
Hover over a row and click the function icon (How this value is calculated) to see the formula behind it, including any inflation adjustment. Click Map to open the variable in Social Explorer Maps.
Work with selected rows
Select rows to Remove them, make a New chart or New table from them, set Show as, or Copy or Export them. Removed rows can be added back from Customize > Rows > Add variable.
| Note: Survey numbers are estimates, and every estimate has a margin of error: the range the true value probably falls in. For small areas such as tracts and block groups, that range can be wide. Studio does not show margins of error, so check the source table in Social Explorer when reliability matters. |
