The Social Explorer AI Studio is the main workspace where you interact with Social Explorer AI, ask questions, explore results, and manage your analyses. This article explains where to find the AI Studio, how to open it, and how the interface is organized.
Where to Find the AI Studio
If you have access to Social Explorer AI, the AI Assistant is available directly within the platform.
You can open the AI Studio in the following ways:
From the homepage
When AI is enabled, an AI section appears on the homepage. You can either type a question directly into the input field, which automatically opens the AI Studio and displays the response, or click Open AI Studio to open the studio first and then begin asking questions.
From anywhere on the site
You can also open the AI Studio from the main navigation. This allows you to ask a question at any time.
Once the AI Studio is open, you can begin by typing a question in the input field and pressing Enter.
The First AI Screen
When you open the AI Studio for the first time, you see a welcome screen with a single input field and example prompts.
You can either:
type your own question into the input field
select one of the example prompts shown below the input field
The example prompts demonstrate everyday actions, such as creating tables, charts, or maps. Selecting one of these examples automatically submits the question and opens the complete AI response.
The AI Studio Layout
The AI Studio is divided into two main areas:
the main content area, where results and visualizations appear
the left navigation panel, which helps you manage chats and saved results
Left Navigation Panel
The left side of the AI Studio provides tools for organizing your work.
Starting a New Chat
At the top of the left panel, the plus (+) button allows you to start a new chat. This creates a fresh conversation without affecting your previous questions or results.
Chat History
Below the plus button, the Chats section displays your conversation history. Each entry represents a previous question or analysis.
You can:
return to earlier results
switch between different analyses
continue a previous conversation where you left off
This allows you to explore multiple topics without losing context.
Saved Insights
The Saved Insights section lets you save important outputs from your conversations, such as tables, charts, or maps.
Saved insights make it easy to:
quickly return to key findings
reuse important results
avoid searching through chat history
Split View for Maps and Charts
When you request a table, map, or chart, the AI Studio switches to a split-view layout.
In this layout, the conversation and AI response remain visible on the left side of the screen, while the requested table, map, or chart opens on the right. This allows you to review sources, methodology, and follow-up suggestions while viewing the results at the same time.
Tables, maps, and charts opened in split view include their own controls displayed above the visualization or table.
For maps, available actions include opening the map in the full Social Explorer editor for advanced customization and exporting the map for use in reports or presentations.
For charts and tables, an Export option appears above the visualization or table. Charts and tables can be downloaded for reporting or sharing, but they do not open in the full editor.
Note: You can close the visualization view at any time to return to the standard chat-focused layout. Your conversation history remains intact, and you can continue refining your analysis or ask new questions.
Download and Export Controls
When a table, chart, or map is displayed, action controls may appear above the visualization.
Depending on the type of result, these controls can include Download or Export options, allowing you to save the output for use outside the AI Studio.
For example:
• maps may include options to export the visualization or open it in the editor
• charts may include an export option for saving the visual output
• tables may include options for downloading or exporting the displayed data
The availability of these controls depends on the type of visualization and the data being shown. All download and export actions are tied to the specific result generated by your question.
Asking Questions in the AI Studio
At the bottom of the AI Studio, the input field remains available at all times.
You can continue asking questions, refine your analysis, or explore related data without restarting your session.
